You have a newer Kidde ‘Detect’ series Smoke Detector, model 20SAR, or similar, and it won’t stop beeping.
Kiddie ‘Detect’ Series Smoke Detector, model 20SAR
The Kidde model 20SAR is a hard wired type smoke detector and needs to be plugged into its cord with 120 volt power via an electrical box on your ceiling or wall. The 20SAR model is a newer (2024+) style of Kidde detector, one of the ‘Detect’ series from Kidde.
The back of the detector, unplugged without its bracket, should look something like this.
… and you have tried everything, including taking out the batteries and replacing them, plugging and un-plugging the cord on the back of the detector, as well as installing it on, then removing it from its bracket. Nothing works.
It won’t stop beeping three beeps in a row. It is super annoying.
It is defective, Kidde will replace it for free. Call them at 800-880-6788, tell them its model number, issue number, date of manufacture, and where it was manufactured (located at the bottom of the detector). They will replace it for you free.
Some of the newer ‘Detect’ series of Kidde detectors had ‘bad’ batches from Mexico. You probably just got a bad detector.
